Getting your pet to and from the airport

Getting your pet to and from the airport

The life of the jet set is not limited to just humans. Our furry friends now often accompany us overseas thanks to the pet passport.

As our name suggests, we take pets to the places they need to go. Whether that is an appointment, a trip to see friends, a holiday to the coast or even needing to catch a flight!

Ok, so we don’t actually have a plane ourselves. But, we have a wealth of experience in helping owners get their pets to and from the airport.

How do airports process animals for flights?

Over the years we have been to quite a few of the major airports within the UK. Whilst each one has its adaptations to make things run smoothly, it is largely the same process.

The animal is processed at the animal reception centre, if you are coming into the UK we can collect your pet once they’ve been given the all clear.

Flying can be stressful enough without worrying about collecting your pet. We’ve had people arrive from South Africa, Australia, Sweden, Hong Kong, and of course from beautiful destinations throughout Europe.  It doesn’t matter where you come from. We will arrange to meet you at the airport as you would expect with an airport taxi – the difference is that we welcome your furry baby too.

Taking your pet on an overseas holiday

If you are preparing to jet off and enjoy some rest and relaxation with your pet you may be wondering how to make it happen. The important thing to do is make sure you have everything in place. The airline should be able to give you all the details and you can access some handy guides through the Gov.UK website.

Once you have the correct paperwork and transport equipment you need to think about how you will get to the airport. Again, we can help with this. Be prepared, we will ask you a LOT of questions. We want your trip to the airport to be a smooth and fun start to your adventure and this means a little bit of planning.

What we need to know

Before we can book your pet taxi, we need to ensure we have all the information so you will need to have the following information to hand…

  • The physical dimensions of your air travel crates

This will include the length, height and width of the crate as well as the weight. We need to ensure that the crates fit in our vehicle and that we can lift them into the car.

  • The breed of pet, weight and temperament
  • Additional luggage you may have with you on the day – again we would need the dimensions.
  • How many people will be travelling and their ages?
  • Your airport and all flight information

Check, Check and Double Check

Departing or arriving at an airport, especially with an animal in tow, is going to be stressful. We want to make sure we have everything covered so there are no surprises on the day.

It may feel like we are being overly cautious but we really do need the exact measurements of your crates. Imagine if we turned up to collect you for that long-awaited flight that’s set you back a fair few pennies and your crate didn’t fit into our vehicle! Or there were one too many people to fit in.

We love helping our customers on the airport journeys, it’s exciting being with someone at the start of their new adventure.
