Customer Case Study- Dennis

Dennis is the oldest customer we take and is from a completely different generation.

He lives in a house with no heating or running hot water and cooks on a basic stove. He has a car but it’s one of the really old ones that need winding up and only run at 30mph. So, getting to the vets with his little lady is a challenge on the main roads of Milton Keynes.

Dennis takes Daisy every week to the vets for her weekly injections that keep the cancer at bay. They go every Monday first appointment of the day. So, we save that time for them every week.

Little Daisy despite being 16 and with cancer is as happy as can be, she greets us every week with her waggy tail and little licks. Sitting next to dad in the car, she doesn’t fuss at all when we put her harness on, even though she has a few warts in her old age.

So much more than just a taxi service

Her dad regals us with stories from times gone by, its lovely to hear about how the world used to be, and hear about Dennis and the jobs he has done over the years.

He tells us about Daisy and what she gets up to everyday and what a little minx she is when he is trying to do the gardening. Dennis has been a long time retired and having never been married or have any children, he spends his time pottering about with Daisy by his side, his faithful companion.

Dennis’s passion is vintage cars and has many in his collection, even some that have featured in period dramas; even bagged himself a part as an extra in a few shows.

It’s great to hear customers reminisce about how life used to be, a time more peaceful than today.

Her dad is always so grateful for my help and says so every time I see him. It’s all part of the service though, arriving on time, getting the door for the customer. Putting on the dog’s car harness. Waiting whilst the little one has her appointment.

It’s not really like a job, its spending all day with customers and hearing about their lives.

Daisy doesn’t have long left, but Dennis will get another little friend when she is gone, an older rescue. Older dogs are perfect for older people.

They get to potter around in life keeping each other company.
