I can’t believe it’s been a year since Nic Hughes joined us in Solihull, launching a much needed pet taxi service in her home town.
Nic has had an amazing year and can’t believe how fast it’s gone. Here she shares her reflections on the past year.
Pet taxi service celebrates 1 year
“Firstly, it doesn’t really feel like a year has gone by. It feels more like a few months.
Before I joined Pets 2 Places I was looking for a long time for something that really interested me that I could do. I had recovered from breast cancer and had time and energy to really throw myself into a new career. Covid then struck and this gave me a further window to really look at my life and what’s important to me.
I’ve always done administration so I applied for a few admin jobs. I was offered one of the jobs in the school office, so it would have been perfect to fit around the children. But my heart just wasn’t in it. I couldn’t see myself sitting in an office at a computer all day doing spreadsheets and admin. It just didn’t hold the same appeal for me.
I wanted to do something that mattered, something that made me feel worthwhile.
I was so excited when I found Pets 2 Places.
And I’m so glad I joined, it’s the best decision I’ve ever made.”
Supporting customers with the pet transport
“The other day someone hugged me and thanked me for being such an angel and helping them. It really made me feel choked up because I was just doing my job.
But to my customers I am so much more than just a pet taxi. I bring something important and valuable to my community. Being called a godsend and an angel is the first time in my career I’ve ever felt so truly valued, I almost cried.
This past year has boosted my confidence, I have learnt many new skills and I so proud to be running a business that makes me happy.”
