Pontefract and Wakefield Pet Taxi

Pontefract and Wakefield Pet Taxi

From Para Trooper to Pet Taxi. How this Yorkshire lad has gone from war zones to a soft touch with pets and owners alike. Our Pontefract & Wakefield Pet Taxi Franchisee Chris joined us after seeing a gap in the market himself. He needed to get home from an event with his Bear Coat Sharpei Eddie. Chris really struggled to find a taxi that would take his dog.

A big change for Chris having spent 10 years in the forces in war zones, then 20 years running a motorbike business. Chris has found the softer side of life with his pet taxi.

Chris commented.

‘Its not at all what I thought the job would be, I knew it was a pet taxi of course, but I didn’t realise how community focused it was or how much customers need the extra care and attention. I love it, I’m so chuffed I joined’.

Tailored support for our customers

Chris was brought to tears by one customer, a man who had to say goodbye to his beloved cat. The customer called Chris explaining how he and his wife had got the cat from a tiny kitten. Now the cat was 20 years old. Having said goodbye to his wife of 40 years only 6 months previously, this was a difficult vet visit.

The customer wanted Chris to be in the vet room with him when he said goodbye. He needed a friendly face to help him through emotionally. Chris stayed with him every step of the way. Even going so far as taking the cat back home and staying with the distraught gentleman. Chris dug a grave for the cat and they both stood in respectful silence whilst the owner said his final goodbyes.

A lot of customers like us to assist them at their appointments.  This means they can focus on what is being said to them whilst we entertain the pet.  Not just that but sometimes customers like us to help them hear and understand what is being said, and remind them of any questions they have said to us on the way to the appointment.

It’s great being able to support our customers like this, it’s very minimal work on our part, but means the world to the customers.  Knowing they have that kind, caring trusting person they can take with them when they have important appointments to attend.

If you’re hard of hearing or not able to write information down quickly or get a bit muddled when on the phone, we can book appointments for you.  A simple exercise for us, yet makes such a huge difference for our customers in reducing anxiety.
