When Your Pet Faces a Crisis: How We Support Both You and Your Animal

A Difficult Week and a Little Lady in Need

This week has been an emotional reminder of how deeply we feel the struggles of the animals we love, and how much their wellbeing impacts our own. It also highlighted just how important support for pet owners is, especially during emergency vet visits when everything feels overwhelming..

I was called to help with a little lady who had suffered unexpected eye trauma. No one is entirely sure what caused it, but what we do know is that she now faces a long and careful road to recovery.

Supporting a Worried Pet Owner Through an Emergency Vet Visit

Her mum had been carrying the weight of that worry heavily. Within just 24 hours, she found herself at the emergency vets one day and then back at her regular vets the following morning.

The stress and fear were clear on her face and in every word she spoke.

When we arrived at the clinic, I carried the basket inside for her, as I always do. She chose to go into the consult room on her own and assured me she didn’t need assistance.

However, the appointment lasted much longer than expected. She had to hold her cat for an extended period, and I could see the strain taking its toll.

People Need Care Too

By the time I got her home, she looked faint, shaky, and in desperate need of a moment to gather herself.

I helped her into a seat and brought her a drink before settling the cat safely. I insisted she stay seated for at least ten minutes and handed her a notepad and pen so she could jot down anything she needed for the next appointment while she rested.

Sometimes something as simple as sitting quietly and letting your mind settle can make an enormous difference.

Once I knew she was steady and comfortable, I let myself out.

How We Support You During Vet Appointments

This experience reminded me that my role isn’t just to transport pets — it’s also to support the people who love them. Vet visits can be stressful, and you don’t have to manage them alone.

If you ever need help in the consult room or someone to stand beside you during a difficult appointment, please know you only have to ask.
Our team is here to support you in whatever way you need.
